ITI®-SIM 3.8

The New Computer Simulation Technology

The PC based simulation software ITI®-SIM 3.8 for Windows NT/2000/XP (32 bit) is a powerful engineering tool to meet a wide range of engineer's requirements including all interconnections between different types of vibration systems:

  • mechanics & transmission elements (motors, engines, gears, couplings, etc.)
  • control elements
  • hydraulics
  • pneumatics
  • thermics

This software is available by ARLA, who cooperates with ITI GmbH Dresden in this domain. One major application supported by ARLA is the analysis of torsional vibrations in drive systems and powertrains. Due to a very comfortable software environment and the easy-to-learn graphical model building (including the detailed analysis of time-signals, FFTs, etc.), ITI®-SIM may be used by both beginners and engineers with high experiences.

The software usually solves dynamic problems in the time domain. A significant add-on is the implemented steady-state simulation module ITI®-STAT which has been originally developed by ARLA (see the ARLA software package ARLA®-SIMSTAT). A typical applications solved by ITI®-STAT are for example: torsional vibration analysis of absorbers, dampers, flexible couplings in drive systems with reciprocating engines, compressors, etc.

A new feature which is available by ITI®-SIM (Version 3.5 and later) is the Code Export. This option is rather useful and effcient when solving the following engineering tasks:

  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL)
  • Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP)
  • Integrating models in complete CAE environments
  • Simulation jobs which run significantly faster (which is rather important when doing parameter studies, sensitivity analyses, optimization of various configurations)

There are also interfaces and cosimulation tools to the well known software packages Matlab/Simulink, ADAMS, ANSYS and SIMPACK including options for a data import/export (as far as possible).

Furthermore, there are new special software tools which are now available to enable the generation of an "Overall Simulation Domain" which is part of a complex virtual engineering job. Read the following items which show some typical examples:

  • 2D / 3D – mechanics (also connected to controlled, magnetic and fluidmechanical characteristics)

  • Mechatronical systems

  • Actuating systems

  • Machine foundations

  • Extended customer modelization and simulation job administration

  • Flexible operation of software interface (default settings, special solutions tailor-made)

Please click one of the pictures for an enlarged visualization. If you use the Internet Explorer 6.0, you should check the image set-up to ensure the correct resolution (Help).

The new feature ITI®-Vis3D is a powerful tool for 2D and 3D animations. Time signals, once created by ITI®-SIM, are imported and converted to the animation of linked machine parts and groups. The animation is visible on the screen, or amy also be stored as AVI-files.

Note: This AVI file (1.3 MB) may be presented by the Windows Media Player

ARLA also offers a customer-dedicated, practice-oriented service for engineers.

Look through the following examples; you are certainly convinced of the powerful simulation technology. If you use the Internet Explorer 6.0, you should check the image set-up to ensure the correct resolution for the enlarged images (Help).
